When I first visited this garden the clients were at a loss as to what to do having cleared the garden twice to no avail, the weeds just kept reappearing at an alarming rate. The brief for this garden was to be low maintenance, contemporary and have seating and eating areas.
We decided on natural slate paving to give the contemporary look and I designed the garden to make the most of the split level plot and the south facing aspect. The garden now consists of a large patio close to the house, with the main area of the garden set to lawn with triangular borders leading to the sunken patio at the end of the garden. The lawn has been edged with a contrasting polished sandstone and the borders mulched with slate shale to lower maintenance.
